Lac Long Quan House

Lac Long Quan House is a single-storey garden house in Vung Tau, designed by H+ Studio in 2023. Hidden behind walls of natural split stone, the house is imagined as a series of small pavilions set in a tropical garden, where everyday life stays close to plants, light and water.

A broad pitched tiled roof covers the whole house, carried on exposed concrete beams and visible timber trusses. A continuous gap between the beams and the roof lets light and air slip in, so the roof seems to float above. The walls are large sliding glass panels that can open completely, joining the interiors to timber decks and the garden.

The shared living space is one large room open to the garden on both sides: a living area with a timber sofa, a long dining table and a kitchen island clad in vertical timber, all on grey stone floors and facing stone walls covered in flowers and bamboo. The bedrooms are separate pavilions, each with its own garden and deck; the master bedroom has herringbone timber floors and a semi-outdoor bathroom with a bathtub beside a koi pond.

The koi pond, stone paths, black pebbles and mossy boulders weave between the pavilions, creating a layered garden where the line between inside and outside all but disappears.

The project was designed in 2023 and has not yet been built.
